Story intro

Isabel (Williams), a co-founder of an orphanage in South India travels to New York to meet a potential benefactor, Theresa (Moore). Despite her frustration by the need to justify a charitable donation, she agrees to the meeting, which falls a day before the wedding of Theresa's daughter (Quinn).Later it is revealed that quinn is the daughter of isabeland her former flame, Theresa's husband. Theresa got pregnant when she was young and I had planned to give up Quinn for adoption.But Theresa leaves before the date of adoption without informing the father. Eventually the father decides to bring up Quinn. Towards the end, we find out that Theresa is dying due to leukemia and hd wanted to Isabel to act as a mother figure in place of her. However Isabel can only get the million dollar donation to the orphanage if she permanently resides in New York. Isabel is unexpectedly invited to the wedding and the events that ensue force her to confront decisions she made 20 years ago as well as a man from her past, who turns out to be Theresa's husband (Crudup). Secrets are also revealed including an unexplained charity worth 20 million dollars.
